- They wish to pair the five-time Premier League winner with Allan Saint-Maximin
- City would replace Mahrez if he left, with Barcelona’s Raphinha an option
Al Ahli have made an improved £27million offer for Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez as they push for agreement.
The bid is understood to be £23.2m plus £3.8m in bonuses but City are holding out for their £30m valuation.
City previously turned down an £18m offer for the Algerian ace.
Mahrez, 32, is set on the move and Al Ahli want to pair him with Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
They have offered around £25m for the Frenchman and talks are ongoing with the sale opening the door for Harvey Barnes’s move to Newcastle from Leicester City.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe admitted that Financial Fair Play has ‘forced’ Saint-Maximin’s likely departure.
Premier League champions Manchester City will look to bring in another winger if Mahrez departs with Barcelona’s former Leeds United flyer Raphinha one of the names that have been considered.
Another City winger, 19-year old Carlos Borges, remains a target for West Ham and Southampton.
