Nice defender, Jean-Clair Todibo, is patiently waiting for an offer to arrive from Man United.
Manchester United Football Club are still looking to switch things up in their dressing room before the transfer deadline slams shut. Though time is running out.
Erik ten Hag was seemingly set on moving away from Harry Maguire during this window, though that move to West Ham United now looks dead in the water.
That setback is having an effect on potential incoming. Jean-Clair Todibo is among the names linked with filling the centre-back slot that was supposed to be freed up by Maguire. However, that situation is now looking unlikely to play out.
According to Nice-Matin (Wednesday print edition), per Sport Witness, the 23-year-old is ‘waiting’ for a Man United offer to arrive. However, it’s stated that Todibo remains focused on the next game for Nice in the meantime.
Nice-Matin are adamant in their belief that United are looking at Todibo strongly during this summer, but Maguire’s recent developments aren’t helping in that regard.
Maguire isn’t the only thing in the way of a United transfer for Todibo, with Benjamin Pavard described as another ‘stumbling block’. The Frenchman is viewed as a cheaper alternative to Todibo, though that deal is not a foregone conclusion as Bayern Munich may not want to sell Pavard after their deal for Kyle Walker fell through.
While this is going on, Todibo has turned down offers from Serie A club Napoli, as he looks to sort out his future before the close of play in a couple of weeks’ time.
In the end, I find it tough to see how United will sign Todibo. If Maguire isn’t going anywhere, I fully believe the club will not invest in another defender during this window, as it’s totally dependent on player sales first.
