Mauricio Pochettino has finally berated his players after their lame attempts to play football against Manchester United last week.
The Blues lost 2-1 to United, a team who yesterday got thrashed by Bournemouth 3-0 in their own backyard, a team who are perhaps in even more turmoil than Chelsea are right now, a team that Chelsea should have absolutely been beating taking into account the situation they are currently in.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea’s owner WANTS to sign Victor Osimhen and WANTS to bring in a new striker ASAP!
Pochettino has been far from perfect, but his players were terrible in this game, simply terrible.
After the game Pochettino defended his players, made excuses about them being tired and United having an extra day to rest, and even praised their efforts. It was quite unbelievable.
Well, in the embargoed section for the Everton pre-match press conference on Friday, Pochettino finally decided to deservedly aim some criticisms at his players, and he is absolutely spot on with these comments.
“We started really sloppy and too flat against Newcastle. Also against Manchester United,” Pochettino said, as cited by The Daily Mirror. “Come on! Okay, we are a young team, in the process of building. There can be a lack of understanding of concepts or a need to improve in our build-up or positioning. Those things can grow in time. But going there to run and to fight and to match them in our will – the areas you need to match all the teams – not doing that is unacceptable. We need to work on this.”
They all need to take some blame, Pochettino, the players, the owners, all of them.
