Chelsea are creatively finding new ways to make their season worse, and today, having lost their captain to injury in the first half, they’ve lost their goalkeeper in the second.
Robert Sanchez landed heavily early in the second period, and it looked at the time like he might come off. He stayed on however, and made a couple of good saves in the interim, before finally being taken off after 80 minutes.
Summer signing Djordje Petrovic came on to replace him, a full debut for 24 year old. The only excitement from this situation is that we will get to see the Serbian international, who joined from New England this summer for €14m, get a chance at last.
It probably won’t change much in terms of today’s game, but if Sanchez has picked up a serious problem that’s another major blow to Mauricio Pochettino and his team, who are currently trundling towards yet another defeat.
