It all seems rather unimportant compared to the burning trash fire that is our first team, but today has seen continued links to a move away from Chelsea for Noni Madueke.
The winger only arrived last January, in a slightly surprising €40m move from PSV, but has never really cracked the first team for an extended period, and even this season with some truly awful injury problems, he’s never really generated much interest from Mauricio Pochettino.
Romano admits that Madueke could go, although he’s at pains to point out that his future remains very open:
“My understanding is it’s (Madueke) one of the situations Chelsea will discuss in the next 2-3 weeks,” Romano said as part of his Daily Briefing with Caughtoffside.
“Nothing has been decided yet for Madueke, but obviously he’s not playing as much as he’d love to. He’s also been injured and this is a topic to consider, so internal talks will take place soon to try to resolve things, for sure.”
Overall, it’s hard to see Madueke getting any minutes at all once Christopher Nkunku is back, and that is now a matter of days away rather than weeks. A good loan for the second half of this season to a decent Premier League side seems like just what the doctor ordered.
