Talk about salt in the wounds.
Jurgen Klopp is doing some kind of speech on the pitch at Anfield, trying to sum up the season so far. His team started slowly, but they’ve really hit form now, and the issues they had unexpectedly in the summer with players leaving feels a long way in the past.
Chelsea fans were lording it over Liverpool fans back in August after both Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo turned down the Reds to come to West London. Now it’s Klopp who’s laughing.
“In the summer, a few strange things happened in the transfer market,” the manager commented.
“But between us, here I can say – ‘My God, we were lucky!’ I am really happy that it worked out like that.”

Liverpool ended up signing Wataru Endo on the cheap, while Chelsea spent a vast quantity on two players, one of whom has been largely poor, and one of whom has played 0 minutes.
We’ve won just a handful of games all season, while Klopp’s team are increasingly looking like one of the favourites for the title. This is why “he who laughs last, laughs hardest”.
There’s plenty of time for Lavia and Caicedo to come good, but Klopp is welcome to enjoy his moment.
