Rumours coming out of Italy are claiming that Victor Osimhen is very close to signing a new contact with Napoli.
The striker has apparently had the offer on the table since the summer, and is finally going to put pen to paper in the next few days to lock in.
On the one hand, it’s obviously a blow to Chelsea. We want players as close to expiry as possible so they (and we) can push for a move. On the other hand, we’re also hearing that this new contract contains a release clause, which makes signing Osimhen that much easier.
Multiple sources like the Evening Standard claim that the clause will be at £112m, less than what we’ve paid for Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. Osimhen would have made a much bigger immediate impact on the team too, one feels.
The question is which other teams want him, and how much they’re willing to pay…
