It was a tumultuous Wednesday evening for Paris Saint-Germain supporters as the club battled Borussia Dortmund with a place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League on the line. Thankfully, Christmas came early, and Les Parisiens narrowly scraped by with a draw.
On this episode of PSG Talking, I’m joined by Jonathan Johnson from CBS Sports to talk all about the match against Dortmund. We discuss the overall performance of the club, missed opportunities, and standout performances and look ahead to the next round.
Up first, Johnson shares his overall thoughts on the performance from PSG, including the countless missed scoring chances Luis Enrique’s side created. On the other end of the pitch, Gianluigi Donnarumma had a fantastic performance, and we talked about his potential future with the club.
Warren Zaïre-Emery put in a Man of the Match performance and scored PSG’s only goal. We talk about his ability to come back from injury and lead PSG against Dortmund and whether he could be the captain of the club next season.
We wrap up the conversation about the match by discussing PSG’s mentality after going a goal down and whether Luis Enrique should have instructed his side to go for the win instead of playing defensively late in the match.
Then, we switch gears to the January transfer window. We discuss potential transfer targets and which young players could go out on loan.
