Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappé continues to be one of the top players in football, and this edition of the UEFA Champions League group stage was no different.
It’s the first edition of the competition in which the Frenchman had no Neymar Jr. or Lionel Messi, so seeing how he’d fare without those two superstars was interesting.
Kylian Mbappé tops two impressive UCL stats
OptaJoe highlighted on Twitter that Mbappé was involved in the most shot-ending sequences (50) in this year’s UEFA Champions League group stage. At the same time, he also had the highest xG sequence involvement (8.7) of any player.
Furthermore, the winger was ahead of some top names in the shot-ending sequences statistic, such as Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham (48) and winger Rodrygo (43), and Manchester City’s Phil Foden (45).

It will be interesting to see whether the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner can continue this form once the round of 16 resumes. If PSG hopes to advance to the quarterfinals, they’ll need the best form from Mbappé.
