Some quick (and good!) news as we continue to celebrate Tottenham Hotspur going undefeated in the football this weekend — Ange Postecoglou’s top assistant coach Chris Davies will NOT be joining Swansea City as their next head coach and has opted to stay at Spurs. The report is short, but suggests that Davies has rejected the opportunity in order to continue his position with Tottenham.
This is obviously good news, as it provides continuity during what’s been a fun but turbulent first season for Postecoglou at Spurs. Tottenham had previously rejected an approach for Davies, but Big Ange had said outright that this didn’t necessarily mean that he wouldn’t take the job if offered. In recent press conferences, Postecoglou said that the decision was Davies, and that he wouldn’t stand in his way if this was a position he was interested in. Davies was previously a finalist for the Swansea head coach position last summer before the club appointed the now-fired Michael Duff.
