good morning! Let’s get straight into our countdown on Fitzie’s favourite Spurs moments from 2023:
No. 5: Stellini at the wheel, Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea
No. 4: Lucas Moura ends his Spurs tenure in style
Fitzie’s Top Five Spurs moments of 2023, no. 3: Tottenham sign James Maddison
How many years did Tottenham Hotspur go by without signing a replacement for Christian Eriksen?
Three! That’s three too many.
The creativity that had been lacking in those three years was finally made up for when Tottenham Hotspur signed James Maddison from Leicester City this summer.
I was hesitant about signing him at first – it was a lot of money. But he’s done great by cementing himself as a leader on the pitch and one of our most potent players in moving the ball forward.
There are so few players who seem to fit the mould of Tottenham. Sometimes you sign a player, wait a little bit and turns out they’re a great fit. With Maddison (in hindsight), it was clear from the get-go that he fit Spurs perfectly.
His goal against Burnley has been one of my favourites from this season. Through 11 games, he’s got three goals and five assists.
Now we just need to get Madders back on the pitch!
