A couple days ago we reported that former Tottenham Hotspur and France captain Hugo Lloris was in “advanced talks” to join MLS side LAFC, ending his 11.5 year tenure at Spurs. It’s still not officially confirmed by Spurs, but thanks to Fabrizio Romano we now know a little more about the deal.
⚫️ Hugo Lloris and LAFC deal details.
◉ Contract signed until 2025 plus multiple options to extend next years.

So it’s a one year deal with options that could extend his stay if it’s a good fit for him in Los Angeles. The tweet doesn’t say it but I’d be shocked if this wasn’t a free transfer, intended just to free up his wages. The fact that his farewell is on “day 31” means that Spurs almost certainly have plans for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd to say farewell and thank you to a player who has been a servant of the club for more than a decade.
I know a not-insignificant number of Spurs fans have… complicated feelings about Hugo, especially after his drunk driving incident from a few years ago, some questionable comments on LGBTQ rights during the World Cup in Qatar, and a notable decline over the past few seasons. That said, he’s absolutely the best keeper Spurs have had in the Premier League era, and you can make an argument he’s one of the best Spurs keepers in their history. I feel like he’s earned the right to say goodbye to the club and to the fans.
Sounds like we’ll get our chance on Sunday.
