As reported yesterday, it appears as though Djed Spence is leaving Spurs and heading to Genoa on loan, the same club from which Tottenham Hotspur is purchasing Radu Dragusin. However, this appears to be an entirely separate deal and not at all connected to the Dragusin transfer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the loan is for the rest of the season and includes a purchase option in the amount of just €10m (£8.6m).
EXCL: Djed Spence will join Genoa on loan deal from Spurs… but it will include buy option clause!
Understand it’s not mandatory and it will be in the region of €10m — up to Genoa in June.

I’m not sure what Fab is getting at about paying the full salary “as part of the Dragusin deal” unless that was a minor negotiation point. Otherwise, this appears to be a completely separate deal. Spence appears to be on only £25k/wk so this doesn’t seem to be a very big hardship to get a player not in Ange Postecolgou’s plans out of the door and to another club where he might end up permanently.
Spence, meanwhile, gets to live and play football in one of the most beautiful cities in northern Italy, and hopefully will grow up a bit in the process. Seems like a good deal to me.
What a morning.
