Everton Women have secured the first two signings of the January transfer window with a double swoop for Danish duo Kathrine Moller Kuhl and Rikke Madsen.
Kuhl joins the Blues on loan from Arsenal for the remainder of the 2023/24 season. An exciting midfielder, the 20-year-old has made the move to Merseyside a year on from making her Women’s Super League debut, and reunites with manager Brian Sorensen.
The Blues boss handed the Arsenal loanee her senior debut when the pair worked together at FC Nordsjaelland, with Kuhl helping the side to Danish Cup success.
Joining Kuhl at Everton is forward Rikke Madsen, who has put pen to paper on an 18-month deal until the end of June 2025.
The Denmark international joins following a spell in the USA with National Women’s Soccer League side North Carolina Courage.
And both have expressed their delight with their new home, with Kuhl keen to again work with Sorensen.
“Brian helped me a lot moving from youth football to going to the senior team,” she said. “He really helped me develop when I was in my younger years. He has been a big part of my journey so far and I’m looking forward to be working with him again.
“It’s a really nice feeling to work with a coach who believes in you. I feel that with Brian, and I’m really happy to be at Everton.
“I’ve spoken to a lot of people about the Club, and I’ve heard a lot of positive things.”
Equally as eager is Madsen, who is raring to go in her new league, and gave an insight as to just what the Blues’ faithful can expect from her.
“I’m so happy to be here, I’ve been eager to get to this club and to play in this league. I cannot wait to get started,” said the forward, who cannot operate across every position of the front line.
“Some of my strengths is my physicality and running fast. It’s going to be fun to put that to good use here.
“I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Club. It’s a really good environment, good teammates and the organisation as a whole.
“I just wanted to be a part of that.”
The two new arrivals takes the tally of Denmark internationals at Everton to six, alongside Danish boss Sorensen.
Good luck ladies!
