Can’t argue with BBC Head Writer Phil McNulty who describes our club as being in “trauma on a loop” currently after the latest body blow from the Premier League. [BBC]

Everton and Nottingham Forest are hit with Premier League charges for breaking spending rules… meaning Toffees are at risk of a SECOND points deduction this season. [Daily Mail]

Everton’s response, in part:

“Everton Football Club acknowledges the Premier League’s decision to refer a breach of Profit & Sustainability rules (PSR) for the assessment period ending with the 2022/23 season to an independent Premier League commission.

This relates to a period which covers seasons 2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23. It therefore includes financial periods (2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22) for which the Club has already received a 10-point sanction. The Club is currently appealing that sanction.”

Everton can assure its fans that it will continue to defend its position during the ongoing appeal and, should it be required to do so, at any future commission – and that the impact on supporters will be reflected as part of that process. [EFC]

Sean Dyche admitted he was pleased with many aspects on Sunday’s 0-0 draw with high-flying Aston Villa and praised the resilient mentality once again on show from his side:

“I’m pleased with a point, and I am pleased with the performance in a different way. They are a top side, they have proven that this season and they had a chance to go joint-top today.

How are you going to deal with the game in possession, maybe you are not so how are you going to deal with the game out of possession? We had to do that, it was on show and I thought we did that very well. I am pleased with that aspect of the game and the clean sheet.” [EFC]
