There was actually a couple of positives actually from Chelsea’s 4-1 thrashing from Liverpool last night.
The whole game was abysmal, as was the result, and the performance. But there was a couple of positive bright sparks to take away from it for me.
EXCLUSIVE! All the transfer deals, plans, and potential ins and outs that Chelsea HAVE been considering this window!
Obviously one of which was Christopher Nkunku being on the pitch again, playing well, and scoring a very good goal. At that point you felt it might have sparked a bit of a comeback due to the influence and impact he had.
But it was also the player who worked with him for that goal linking up well, Carney Chukwuemeka, who also helped Chelsea get a bit more control on the game and add some quality to a very poor performance from Chelsea.
Carney has been out injured for a long time and is appreciated getting the minutes to get back to full fitness. Chelsea certainly look much better when he is on the pitch.
His words today are picked up by the Chelsea website.
He said: “It was good to get some minutes after coming back from a long injury.
“We just have to keep working hard in training and for me personally, I just want to keep working my way up to full match fitness.
“We’re obviously disappointed because we came here in high spirits expecting to get a result, but it wasn’t meant to be.
“We’re a young team and we’re still growing together.
“I wouldn’t say that it was too big of a challenge for us, I would just say that we weren’t at it. We’re growing together.
“We’re getting the squad back together now which is good, we just have to keep working hard in training and gelling with one another – creating a team rather than individuals – and then we will definitely have some good results coming up.
“We will learn from this, keep improving and definitely bounce back for the next game.”
