The Chelsea media team have been working overtime to get content out on all fronts ahead of the Carabao Cup final tomorrow. You can hardly blame them. It’s our first final for a while – and who knows how long it could be until our next one.
Their interesting series of interviews has now settled on Enzo Fernandez, who has won the biggest prize in the game, but has had to suffer some pretty tough times since that World Cup final.
Speaking to the official website, Enzo made his desires clear:
“This is why I joined Chelsea. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world and always fighting to be top in the Premier League and competing in finals for trophies.
“It is a club that has to try to win everything. That is what it demands. It’s why I came here. I want to keep winning things in my career.
“To win this competition at Wembley would be really important. I want to win it, but it’s not just for me. I want to win it with this group. The group deserves this title because it’s not always been easy over the last 18 months.
“I’ve never played [at Wembley]. It has always been a dream to play there and I will feel very proud to play a final at the stadium. I will enjoy the experience and give my all so that we can win on that pitch.”
Enzo is not the only one in the this group with experience of winning trophies, but Liverpool without doubt have a more battle hardened group with a lot more practice in these games, especially at Wembley.
We lost our last two finals there against them – but that was with an almost entirely different team. Maybe this new crop can come in with a fresh record and turn the tables.
