Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister has described Chelsea’s midfield due of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo as “very good” ahead of the Carabao Cup final.
It is sure to be an interesting midfield battle on Sunday when Chelsea take on Liverpool at Wembley with the first silverware of the season up for grabs.
Reds midfielder Mac Allister knows two of his opponents very well having previously played with Caicedo when the pair were at Brighton and he currently partners Fernandez in Argentina’s midfield with the pair winning the 2022 World Cup together.
The 25 year old has paid compliment to the midfield duo with the Carabao Cup final just around the corner.
In quotes picked up by The Independent the Liverpool midfielder said: “They have very good players with Enzo and Caicedo in the middle but we have got our players.”
Fernandez and Caicedo are going to be key for the Blues on Sunday if they are to stand a chance of ending a run of five consecutive Wembley final defeats and win a first League Cup since 2015 under Jose Mourinho.
The pair have come under a lot of scrutiny this season due to their hefty price tags but have played much better in recent weeks with impressive performances against AstonVilla, Crystal Palace and Manchester City.
Fernandez has scored seven goals this season from 31 appearances across all competitions whilst Caicedo has also made the same number of appearances following his British record transfer from Brighton last summer.
