Kendry Paez has revealed he has ambitions to become the best player in the world.
Chelsea agreed a deal with Independiente del Valle to sign Paez for £17m last summer with the midfielder set to join the Blues when he turns 18.
The 16 year old looks to be an exceptional talent and already has five caps for Ecuador where he plays with current Chelsea star Moises Caicedo.
Whilst Paez can’t currently play for Chelsea he has been over to England and trained with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad on several occasions.
The Ecuadorian international certainly doesn’t lack any ambition and has revealed his aim is to become the best player in the world.
Speaking to Diario Expreso the teenager said: “I always want to be the best, I’m going to give everything to get to first place. I take everything I am experiencing calmly; I haven’t gotten too worked up.”
“I didn’t think that the possibility of being able to demonstrate my football would come to me so quickly. I am focused on Independiente, I am happy with what I have achieved, but like every professional footballer I want to win everything with the team.”
It’s impossible to tell how good Paez might become but he certainly has all the attributes to make it to the very top having already achieved so much at such a young age.
It’s going to come down to how he develops at Chelsea which hasn’t always been the best place for youngsters in the past.
