good morning everyone, and welcome to another installment of Trending Up / Trending Down.
The premise is simple. Here at Hoddle Headquarters, we take a look at who or what around Tottenham is trending up, and who is trending down.
After a few tough matches, now is a good time to check back in. So let’s take a look.
Trending Up:
Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero: Tottenham conceded 13 goals in their last four games. I can only imagine how many more they would’ve conceded without these two.
Van de Ven has been particularly impressive. The guy is just so speedy! There’s a lot of work that needs to be done this summer, but at least we have a strong centreback pairing.
Richarlison: Listen, it’s a very low bar right now. So yeah let’s celebrate the fact that Spurs looked a lot better in attack once he came on the pitch yesterday (though, yes, Liverpool did switch off).
Trending Down:
Pretty much everyone else (including Ange Postecoglou): What a horror show this has been lately. Four straight losses, completely lost in midfield and attack. They’re so disorganised. Set pieces are terrible. Ange is mad. Everyone’s mad.
Matches until the end of the season: Three left, mercifully. Nervous to see what the offseason brings.
