Arne Slot, the 45-year-old Dutch football manager, will take over as the manager of Liverpool. But his appointment is getting delayed because of some misunderstanding and complications arising in the contract due to Euro 2024.
Slot has admitted that there is an agreement already to take over as the manager of Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp. This was after successful negotiations with the new decision-maker of Liverpool, Michael Edwards. Slot said that there were still some issues to iron out.
One of the major issues was his desire to bring along the coaching staff with him from Feyenoord into Liverpool. The coaching staff included his assistant, Sibke Hulshoff, second assistant Etienne Reijnen, and head of performance Ruben Peeters.
Liverpool, which had already agreed to pay an £11m compensation package to Feyenoord for Slot, were told they would need to pay a further £2m for his coaching staff.
The situation had further become complicated because of the commitment of Hulshoff with the Netherlands national team. Hulshoff had to assist Ronald Koeman as the Netherlands’ assistant head coach in the European Championships.
Liverpool was desirous that Hulshoff would join them from July 1, which will be before the end of the tournament.

Slot recently addressed a group of Dutch reporters regarding his impending move to Anfield, saying,
“I can’t reveal the details right now, but it is not about my contract. There are a combination of factors which is the cause why there is no announcement yet. But don’t worry. It will happen. I know I have been saying this every time over the past week, but I do expect that it really is a matter of days now. Some things just need more time.”
In addition to these complications, Slot is also on the hunt for a new goalkeeping coach. A loyal servant of the club, John Achterberg, has decided to follow Klopp out of Anfield. Achterberg is set to accept an offer to work with Steven Gerrard at Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq.
Meanwhile, Liverpool played a thriller against Aston Villa, which ended in a 3-3 draw. Despite the game being a hotly contested one, the Reds did not play to expectation. This is among the last games of the now-legendary Klopp’s stay at Liverpool, with his last game set to be against Wolves.
Klopp’s last game at Anfield will, without a doubt, be an emotional affair. Despite the recent disappointments of missing out on other silverware, the German has vowed to end his stay on a high. He was recently quoted saying, “We have the chance to go above 80 points again. You should never take things like that for granted.”
