After the Ancelotti debacle back in 2017 it hasbeen an open secret that Bayern Munich heavily prefers hiring German-speaking managers. Having already been spurned by top coaches in the Bundesliga such as Xabi Alonso and Sebastian Hoeneß, Bayern has been forced to look elsewhere.
According to Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl, Bayern has been scouring over potential candidates in the English Premier League, reporting that the Bavarians have their eyes on a head coach outside of the top six teams.
The mystery target in question? Brentord’s Thomas Frank.
There’s little evidence to prove that the coach Bayern has had contact with is indeed Frank, and with the swath of recent reports suggesting that Vincent Kompany could be headed to Bavaria it seems likely that the Belgian is the manager in question.
Frank, known for being an excellent tactician and having the ability to work with limited resources, is an interesting candidate nonetheless.
If you had to choose between either Frank or Kompany to be Bayern’s next head coach who would you pick? Or would you order off the menu entirely? Perhaps Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder, or maybe Vanni Sartini of the Vancouver Whitecaps. Be sure to leave your most out-of-the-box coaching candidates in the comments below!
