Bayern Munich’s arduous coaching search continues onward and the journey now has taken the club over to England…the search has kind of went like that old Howard Dean speech.
“We’re going to Leverkusen! And the DFB! And Liverpool! And Manchester City! And Austria! And Manchester United! And down the hall at Säbener Straße! And the unemployment line! And Benfica! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH-AAAAAAAH!
Anyway, let’s get to it….
Frank-ly, my dear, I don’t give a damn!
The Evening Standard (via @iMiaSanMia) confirmed that Brentford head coach Thomas Frank is, indeed, on Bayern Munich’s shortlist of coaching candidates:
Thomas Frank is understood to be among the candidates for the Bayern job. Bayern chiefs are thought to have sounded out Frank’s representatives about his status, though Brentford have not received any contact from the German club and remain confident the Danish coach will stay at the club next season.
Kompany man?
Per BBC Sport (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Burnley boss Vincent Kompany might not be able to turn down an opportunity from Bayern Munich should it formally arise:
@BBCSport also confirms that Bayern have included Vincent Kompany on their list of candidates. The Belgian has knowledge of the Bundesliga from his time as a player at Hamburg and speaks German.
Kompany is adamant he “never speaks about his future” and though clearly not Bayern’s first or second choice, the opportunity of taking over at one of the most prestigious clubs in the world will be too good to turn down.
Klopp your hands everybody…
Speaking to TEAMtalk, Gary Lineker said that he does not think Jürgen Klopp will take a job with Bayern Munich or Germany in 2025, but could return to Borussia Dortmund as an executive.
“I will be interested to see what Jürgen Klopp does next,” the former striker said. “I think he will definitely take some time out because I think he’s genuine when he says he has run out of energy. You can see why that job is so demanding. There will be a battle for him in a year’s time. Or they’ll be lining up for a year or so’s time. I heard a little rumour that he might end up being president of Borussia Dortmund, which would be amazing.”
On the flip side…
Thomas Tuchel cleared out his office today at Säbener Straße:
