Malick Junior Yalcouyé, an 18-year-old Malian talent, has been catching the attention of multiple big time clubs across Europe.
Bayern Munich recently sent their scouts to watch the youngster play for IFK Göteborg against Mjällby in the Swedish League, Allsvenskan. The central midfielder happened to be of interest to Manchester United, who also sent their scouts to watch Yalcouyé play live at the same game. He’s reportedly drawn interest from Ajax and PSV too, as per @iMiaSanMia’s tweet.
If Bayern Munich were to sign the Malian, they would have to shell out around 8.6 million euros (100 million SEK), which is what the club is hoping to get on the sale of the young midfielder. With the summer transfer window opening up soon, Göteborg is expecting these clubs to submit their respective bids to sign him.
While Bayern could use some depth in their midfield, would signing Malick really be necessary? Lovro Zvonarek is putting in some great performances for Die Roten, and the Konrad Laimer-Leon Goretzka combination in central midfield is looking quite decent (so far at least). Another option could be bringing Paul Wanner home. The German youngster displayed some great football during his time on the pitch at Allianz, and instead of signing a new young player (who Bayern will almost inevitably have to loan out anyway) the club could simply bring him back. The deal would have to be mutually beneficial, and a player like Malick could really use some playing time, which he may not get at Bayern Munich.
Bayern’s top brass are expecting to make a few signings this summer, which is going to be a lot of expenses for the club. Would this youngster be a priority for them? Let us know what you think in the comments!
