Per a release from the Karlsruher SC website, Bayern Munich loanee David Herold is about to make a permanent move to the club after spending this season on loan:
Brought in as a challenger with prospects, David Herold was quickly able to play his way into the KSC squad on an equal footing. He started four times in the first half of the season, and in the second half he became a regular player in the left-back position. During this phase, the left-footer was invited back to a German junior team for the first time in three years. Under U20 coach Hannes Wolf, Herold played two international matches against France in March, in which he also managed two assists. The KSC has now signed its number “20” from the German record champions and thus finally has planning security for the left-back position.
Sebastian Freis, director of football, was happy to bring Herold in on a permanent basis.
“Exercising the purchase option for David Herold is a logical step for us after the positive development in his first year in the second division. He quickly showed his potential and made a decisive impact in the 2nd Bundesliga. David’s career shows that young, talented players with development potential can also develop into top performers at KSC,” said Fries.
For Herold, the move is a very positive one.
“I’m happy that I’m now officially part of the KSC. I had a great first season here, want to get back on the pitch quickly and can’t wait to play again at the BBBank Wildpark in front of our fantastic fans,” Herold remarked.
Herold, a left-back, had one goal and one assist in 24 games across all competitions for Karlsruher SC.
Per German outlet Badische Neueste Nachrichten Badendruck GmbH (BNN), Bayern Munich will receive a few in between €750,000 to €1,000,000 depending on any performance incentives being met (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_en):
