The Bayern Munich youth academy has produced quite a few gems down the years; one of them might be Lovro Zvonarek. Former head coach Thomas Tuchel gave the Croatian some playing time and he did well, including scoring his first goal. He has been compared to perhaps Croatia’s greatest ever player, Luka Modrić. As expected, he is very happy with the comparison.
From Sport Bild, via @iMiaSanMia:
Lovro Zvonarek on being compared to a young Luka Modrić in Croatia and his first goal for Bayern: “Every Croatian boy who plays football has Modrić as an idol. That’s why I’m lucky to have my name mentioned next to his. My goal is always to play football bravely. My start was a dream come true and the goal in the full Allianz Arena was a very important moment for me. Many players supported me and gave me tips. Aleks [Pavlović] in particular helped me a lot. We have a good connection with each other.”
Thomas Müller is the last player remaining from the previous generation of great Bayern Munich youth players at Bayern. There are others such as Emre Can and Mats Hummels at Borussia Dortmund for example. Will Zvonarek (and Aleksandar Pavlović) join them and become great players?
