According to a report from the Daily Mail, former Bayern Munich coach and current Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will step down from his position after next season:
Pep Guardiola is expected to call time on a spell of unprecedented dominance at Manchester City next summer. The Catalan, who joined the club eight years ago, has 12 months left on a contract that sources believe will be his last at the Etihad Stadium.
City will give Guardiola space to make a final decision on his future – and want the most successful boss in their history to extend his stay after 15 major trophies, including delivering a first Champions League.
But the club’s hierarchy fear that Guardiola’s ninth year will represent the end. While City stress that there has been no formal indication either way from the 52-year-old, multiple sources within the industry and City have openly discussed the prospect of an impending departure over recent months.
Many will start to clamor for Guardiola to return to Bavaria where some consider him to have unfinished business. However, that seems like a real longshot — especially with his protege, Vincent Kompany, on the verge of being hired at Bayern Munich.
The time they are a changin’ at Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany looks like he is taking over in Bavaria, while the club’s former favorite son — Hansi Flick — is heading to FC Barcelona. Which one will make out better with their new club? We’ll find out, but in the meantime, there could also be some Bayern players who are on Flick’s transfer radar, too. basically, we’ve got a lot to talk about with all of that, plus some appreciation for Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible season.
