Thomas Müller was recently asked about Bayern Munich, its workings, and the almost-confirmed signing of Vincent Kompany. The German veteran mostly gave some vague answers, but it also seemed like he was taking a slight jab at Thomas Tuchel for his performances at the club.
“FC Bayern is a top address where people like to stay for a long time. There are not many arguments that would pull you away from there. On the other hand, you always have to deliver and make your own contribution to help the club succeed,” Müller said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Was he talking about Tuchel’s under performance in the Bundesliga? Or just justifying his premature exit? Either way, Müller has been at this club long enough to know exactly how it functions, and what the coach needs to do in order to stay and make an impact. On the topic of the new coach, Müller spoke about Kompany and his transfer to Bayern Munich –
“If it’s true, and it seems that it is, I’m glad that we have a coach and we can start planning. I’m happy we can look to the future. But at the moment I’m not thinking about that,” said Müller.
It is basically confirmed that Kompany will be the new coach, but everyone is thinking the same – how far can a coach that recently had his club relegated go with Bayern Munich? Is the squad thinking the same? I suppose we’ll only find out once Kompany gets his system up and running at the club, after which he will either cook, or be cooked.
The time they are a changin’ at Bayern Munich. Vincent Kompany looks like he is taking over in Bavaria, while the club’s former favorite son — Hansi Flick — is heading to FC Barcelona. Which one will make out better with their new club? We’ll find out, but in the meantime, there could also be some Bayern players who are on Flick’s transfer radar, too. basically, we’ve got a lot to talk about with all of that, plus some appreciation for Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible season.
