The ongoing saga between Bayern Munich, Alphonso Davies, and Real Madrid cooled off as the Canadian’s performances slumped.
Now, though, things are once again ratcheting up for the La Liga power and Davies, with Real Madrid reportedly laying down a range for proposal that the club does not intent to exceed:
A recent report from Defensa Central has revealed that Real Madrid are interested in signing Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich, hoping to secure the deal for a fee between €30 million and €35 million.
It is said that Davies remains a key target for Real Madrid and the club is strategizing to make a move for him, believing that the time and situation are on their side. Real Madrid are banking on this uncertainty to pressure Bayern into selling him. It is said that Bayern have made their stance clear regarding Davies: he must either extend his contract or be sold this summer. Davies has not yet made his decision known, although Bayern suspect he is leaning towards leaving. He hasn’t responded to their offer of a salary increase, which would pay him around €13 million gross per year. Bayern are unwilling to raise their offer and are keen to resolve this situation quickly to plan for the next season.
As days pass, Davies’ market value decreases slightly due to his inconsistent season, marked by injuries and patches of poor performance. Bayern are under pressure to sell him to avoid losing him for free later, which has led to a reduced asking price. Real Madrid are aware of this situation and remember Davies’ impressive performance in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals at Santiago Bernabeu, where he scored a spectacular goal.
Real Madrid is reportedly going to stick to its guns and not offer much for Davies:
For now, Real Madrid are aiming to sign Davies for as little as possible within the €30 million to €35 million range. They are in no rush since they already have two capable left-backs in their squad—Ferland Mendy and Fran García—and are considering buying back Miguel Gutierrez. Thus, securing a new left-back isn’t an urgent need for them.
Nonetheless, Real Madrid are committed to acquiring the Canadian star. Their scouting team has long recommended him, and negotiations have been ongoing since last summer. There is already a verbal agreement between Davies and Real Madrid, indicating that the club’s interest is serious and well-planned.
The situation for Bayern Munich is precarious. The club wants to keep Davies, but it does not want to up his pay into the €20 million stratosphere, which could be required for him to stay in Bavaria.
It still feels like Davies is intent on leaving Bayern Munich, but the coming weeks should determine whether that will be true or not.
Timo Werner had a successful run in London for Tottenham Hotspur while on loan from RB Leipzig and it looks like he will be back in the Premier League for another season:

The 2023/24 Bundesliga season concluded with VfL Bochum’s remarkable comeback against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the relegation playoff. Inspired by this, we at BFW decided to review a season that — to Bayern Munich fans’ displeasure -featured record-breaking moments, unimaginable Cinderella stories, and disappointing performances from star players and coaches.
In this flagship episode, hosted by Marcus Iredahl, we’ll delve into the top three ‘overachievers’ and ‘underachievers’ of the season. We’ll discuss the players, coaches, and teams who either exceeded expectations or fell short, hopefully sparking lively discussions in the comments section!
In this podcast episode, we’ll cover the following topics and more:
- Is Thomas Tuchel the biggest underachiever of this season?
- Should Bayern fans be worried about Christoph Freund’s abilities?
- The incredible Cinderella story of FC Heidenheim – a dream for football romantics!
- Marcus’ pick for ‘Player of the Season.’ Who would you choose?
Former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann could be on the move to Eintracht Braunschweig in favor of Schalke 04:
Hoffmann is very open to a move to Schalke. But he also has a concrete option abroad. And Ben Manga has other names on his list.
No final decision yet. But #S04 with good chances for the 24-year-old, they should grab hold of him. RTH can leave Braunschweig for free. Marius Müller, meanwhile, is on the way to Wolfsburg. There is a transfer fee of 1-2 million € . #S04

Bayern Munich was named to WhoScored.com’s U-21 Team of the Season for Europe’s Top 5 Leagues:
Bayern Munich’s offseason is underway and it looks like (again!) the club has made a decision on its coaching hire.
Vincent Kompany is likely going to be the man for the job, but the coaching position probably will not be the only experiencing change this summer. The Bavarians are going to be targeting several areas for improvement and — even aside of all of that — the future of many current players on the roster could be in jeopardy as well.
We will talk about all of that and more on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show. Let’s take a look at what we have on tap for this episode:
- Vincent Kompany looks like he will ink a deal with Bayern Munich and Hansi Flick will do the same for FC Barcelona. Will both clubs be better off for it?
- Max Eberl made the final call on Kompany…and stepped over Uli Hoeneß to make it happen. Was that a wise move? Either way, he is going to thrive or get fired on his own terms.
- Could Joshua Kimmich — or any other Bavarians — take a look at joining Flick in Catalonia.
- Throwing a little appreciation toward Bayer Leverkusen and their incredible season.
Borussia Dortmund will reportedly make its move for Chelsea FC left-back Ian Maatsen after the Champions League finale:

The opening proposal will be under £35m clause value but with different structure.

Kylian Mbappé is leaving Paris Saint-Germain, but for who?
Mostly everyone is expecting the Frenchman to join Real Madrid, but he toyed with using AC Milan as his preferred destination:
Kylian Mbappé: “Italian football? You never know what happens”, told Sky.
“I was always saying: if I will go to Italy one day, I will go to Milan” ⚫️
“As a kid, I was big fan of AC Milan and I always watch Serie A, every Milan game”.
“All my family, massive Milan fan!”. pic.twitter.com/T3UqpjhDgT

As much as Milan fans might want to believe the Frenchman, it seems like his move to Real Madrid is all locked up:
⚪️ Real Madrid final plan to formally complete and announce Kylian Mbappé deal before the Euros won’t be and can’t be limited by PSG.
Despite PSG contract expiring in June, Mbappé can be announced before Euro 2024.
Real are currently fully focused on Wembley.

Bayern Munich’s season might be over, but its offseason is already in full swing.
The coaching search could be over, the roster overhaul could be starting, and fans can only sit and wait for everything to play out.
What do we do in the meantime? Let’s discuss it all!
This is what we have on tap for the episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Bayern Munich seems very close to hiring Vincent Kompany (where have we heard that before? Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick, Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel Roberto De Zerbi…) and why this time, fans should take it very seriously without feeling like Charlie Brown trying to kick that damn football.
- The positives of hiring Kompany — his playing experience, his ability to relate to players, his style preferences match Bayern Munich’s ideals.
- The negatives — no competitive big game experience, has never coached in major competitions for a high profile club, his locker room command might not jibe with the egos and personalities in Munich, and he just got RELEGATED. All that, plus Bayern Munich cannot afford to miss…again…on this hire.
- What’s the Weekend Warm-up’s verdict? Well, this might be a little risky.
- Aside of that, Chris Führich and Theo Hernandez could be on their way to Bavaria, while Jamal Musiala could be on his way out in 2025.
There are a lot of great things about this pic — Hansi Flick’s hair and his jacket namely — but the dog is also cool:
Bayern Munich, Liverpool FC, and Manchester City are among the clubs looking at Porto’s Alan Varela:
Liverpool have made an enquiry to Porto over the availability of star midfielder Alan Varela, whose contract contains a release clause worth roughly £60m. Bayern Munich and Man City are also interested.
