According to a report from kicker journalist Georg Holzner (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Vincent Kompany thinks there are three major issues with Bayern Munich’s current roster:
- A lack of leaders
- Not enough Bayern Munich-quality players
- The need for “a new spine”
These topics were brought up during Kompany’s talks with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund prior to Kompany being hired:
During the talks with Max Eberl and Christoph Freund, Vincent Kompany is said to have come to a similar analysis to Thomas Tuchel a year ago and Ralf Rangnick a few weeks ago: too many players in the squad are not Bayern level, there’s a lack of leaders and a new spine is needed. These three core deficits must be remedied by Kompany and Eberl.
Similar to Tuchel, eh? Things could be about to get very interesting…

Which one will make out better with their new club? We’ll find out, but in the meantime, there could also be some Bayern players who are on Flick’s transfer radar, too. basically, we’ve got a lot to talk about with all of that, plus some appreciation for Bayer Leverkusen’s incredible season.
