Less than a year on from his hiring, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has completely reworked the club’s campus. Immediately upon obtaining the job, Freund brought in a couple of new guys in Richard Kitzbichler for the development of players on loan and René Marić to oversee coaching development, roles Bayern previously felt nobody was required for. But all three have impressed in the time they have been at Bayern, forming a powerful unit at the top of the FC Bayern Campus.
That is, according to Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, who reports that the previously mentioned three as well as Halil Altintop and Jochen Sauer form a “functioning quintet in Bayern’s youth department.” The five seem to form a well oiled unit and seemingly one that is better than the previous regime, as Koch reports “the exchange [in the campus] was not as close under Hasan Salihamidžić.”
Everybody at the club wants more cases like Aleksandar Pavlović, youngsters who can develop into genuine first team quality players, but such development does not happen without the right structures and support systems. Fortunately, it seem Freund and co. are there to provide exactly that.
