With rumors swirling that Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich could be looking at making a move to FC Barcelona, there are reports floating around that the Germany international has already shot down an advance from the Catalans:
FC Barcelona was dealt a significant blow in their attempt to beat out Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid for Joshua Kimmich. Reports have surfaced that the Bayern Munich board intends to meet with the veteran sometime this month.
With his contract set to expire in 2025 and the 29-year-old showing no signs of advancing negotiations for a new deal, the Bundesliga club may find itself in a position where selling him becomes a viable option.
Nonetheless, Diario SPORT reports that Barcelona are no longer in the race to land Kimmich, opening the door for PSG or Real Madrid to land the player should either club decide to pursue the deal.
According to the Spanish media outlet, Kimmich does not accept Barcelona’s offer. Negotiations have been halted between Kimmich and the Catalan side due to a disagreement between Barcelona’s offer and the German player’s financial demands.
Kimmich played in 43 matches during the 2023-24 season with Bayern Munich, managing to score two goals and provide 10 assists for the Bundesliga team. It’ll be intriguing to see if the seasoned player opts for a new adventure in the latter stages of his prime.
Meanwhile, a report from Le10Sport (via 90Min.com) confirmed that PSG has Kimmich among the names it is considering:
PSG are weighing up whether to sell midfielder Manuel Ugarte and bring in a marquee signing such as Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich or Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes in his place.
The relationship between Kimmich and Flick is reportedly very strong and with Vincent Kompany’s plans for Kimmich unknown at this point, it might be worthwhile to file away a potential transfer to FC Barcelona for just a bit.
Kompany and Kimmich will surely meet at some point after Germany’s time at the EUROs is over. If that summit does not go well — or at least does not have the two men aligned on what Kimmich’s future looks like — the 29-year-old might want to take a closer look at Barca.
With his future in Bavaria somewhat tenuous at the moment, Kingsley Coman could be looking over at his old boss, Hansi Flick, who just took over at FC Barcelona for a potential move:
With Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo of interest to Bayern Munich, Joshua Kimmich a top target for the Blaugrana if they can move for him financially, and Bayern one of the few teams that Frenkie de Jong could potentially be open to moving to, the two clubs are set to be involved in plenty of talks this summer. The appointment of Hansi Flick will only help foment those discussions.
According to L’Equipe, Flick maintains an excellent relationship with Bayern winger Kingsley Coman, and could try to persuade him to move to Barcelona, as carried by Sport. Coman could be on his way out of Bayern, depending on Vincent Kompany’s decision on him. Thee 27-year-old has three years remaining on his deal.
As ever with Barcelona, the finances are likely to be the major issue. Unless the Blaugrana can make one or two big sales, a deal seems impossible, even if he is on the market. Coman would fit the bill for Barcelona in the sense that can play on the left wing, but equally he now has a worrying injury record behind him, and is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament tear.
Coman likely needs a change of scenery at this point of his career. Will Flick give him a spot to land?
Bayern Munich officially hired Vincent Kompany to lead the club into a new era.
Just how long that era lasts remains to be seen, but the new coach will have his work cut out for him as he will need to navigate a few different tasks aside of just establishing himself as a manager.
Kompany will not only have to figure out how to get the best out of his current roster, but also will have to help identify new players, which current players need to go, how to win trophies, and do it all without wilting under the spotlight of being a head coach in Bavaria.
There is a ton to discuss, so let’s get to it. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Weekend Warm-up Podcast:
- Examining the insane story regarding Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge wanting Hansi Flick for a year — and Flick agreeing to it — only to get overruled by Max Eberl and Christoph Freund.
- Kompany, Eberl, and Freund want a squad overhaul. Specifically, Bayern Munich wants to unload six players with big salaries, but who? Let’s take a look at the possibilities. Is it really necessary? We don’t think so! Let’s discuss it!
- Some thoughts on Germany’s camp (so far).
- Transfer comings and goings — and why Bayern Munich could be serving itself a recipe for disaster.
Chelsea FC has set its price on Trevoh Chalobah:
Chelsea do not intend to drop their £25m valuation of Trevoh Chalobah, with interest in his services expected this summer.
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips was brutal on his loan to West Ham and now wants to transfer to FC Barcelona:
Barcelona continue to map out their strategies for the summer transfer window, awaiting clarity from La Liga over a return to the 1:1 ruling, which would give them the freedom to operate in the market.
A top-level pivot is an absolute priority for the Catalan heavyweights, with Joshua Kimmich at the top of the wishlist, while a deal for Guido Rodriguez also appears to be closed.
However, given the financial situation, there is uncertainty on whether Kimmich can be signed or not, and as such, Barça are also looking at other options.
Now, SPORT reports that Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips has offered him to Barcelona ahead of the summer transfer window.
Barça had already shown an interest in the England international in January but failed to make a move in time and he ended up joining West Ham United on loan.
After a middling spell in London, Phillips will return to Manchester City now where he has no place in Pep Guardiola’s plans.

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies is very closely linked to Real Madrid and could make a decision on his future soon:
With the signing of Kylian Mbappe already in the bag, Real Madrid are looking at other targets to reinforce the squad before next season. One of the key targets for Los Blancos heading into the summer transfer market is Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies. The Canadian international is greatly admired at the Valdebebas and the La Liga champions would love to have him in the squad.
However, Real Madrid are unwilling to pay over the odds for Davies, considering that his contract expires next year, leading to doubts over a deal this summer. Providing an update on the situation, Fabrizio Romano reports that Alphonso Davies will make a decision on his future very soon and inform Bayern Munich about the same. Real Madrid are keenly watching the situation and are aware that the Canadian left-back would be eager to join them.
However, as mentioned earlier, the Merengues will consider a move for him only if it is at a reasonable price. After all, they are very pleased with the form and performances of Ferland Mendy, who has been a rejuvenated presence in the ongoing campaign.
If Davies decides not to renew his contract at Bayern Munich, they would be forced to sell or risk losing him for free in 2025. In that scenario, Real Madrid could stand to sign him for an affordable fee especially if the player pushes to move to the Santiago Bernabeu and refuses to entertain any other offers.
Heidenheim star Jan-Niklas Beste is drawing a lot of attention from clubs like Villarreal, Fiorentina, Genoa, Everton, and Galatasaray:
A transfer in the summer is still planned for Jan-Niklas #Beste!
➡️ Contract until 2025. Discussions are ongoing. Specific inquiries from: @VillarrealCF, @acffiorentina, @GenoaCFC, @Everton, and @Galatasaray!
➡️ However at this stage, the 25 y/o winger (8 goals/13 assists) tends to prefer a move within the Bundesliga.
Heidenheim would like to receive over €10m. A realistic selling price is currently €5-7m.

Bayern Munich’s offseason is underway and it looks like (again!) the club has made a decision on its coaching hire.
Vincent Kompany is likely going to be the man for the job, but the coaching position probably will not be the only experiencing change this summer. The Bavarians are going to be targeting several areas for improvement and — even aside of all of that — the future of many current players on the roster could be in jeopardy as well.
We will talk about all of that and more on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show. Let’s take a look at what we have on tap for this episode:
- Vincent Kompany looks like he will ink a deal with Bayern Munich and Hansi Flick will do the same for FC Barcelona. Will both clubs be better off for it?
- Max Eberl made the final call on Kompany…and stepped over Uli Hoeneß to make it happen. Was that a wise move? Either way, he is going to thrive or get fired on his own terms.
- Could Joshua Kimmich — or any other Bavarians — take a look at joining Flick in Catalonia.
- Throwing a little appreciation toward Bayer Leverkusen and their incredible season.
Manchester United is going to attempt to sell-off Casemiro:
Manchester United are working hard to offload Casemiro this summer and the Saudi Pro League is his most likely destination.
Manchester City could be thinking about letting Bernardo Silva leave for FC Barcelona:
Manchester City will allow key midfielder Bernardo Silva, regularly linked with Barcelona, to leave this summer if a bid of at least £50m is submitted.
