Matteo Perez Vinlöf will have hardly gone into the season expecting to be called up to the Bayern Munich senior team or even get any playing time, but that is exactly what he got.
Going from the Regionalliga to getting to make your debut in senior football for Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena, in front of 75,000 fans, must have been very special for the talented full back. However, this year may have more special moments for Vinlöf. Because, if reports are to be believed, the young Swede may be able to make his debut for his country.
Journalist Dominik Schneider reports (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), that Vinlöf is set to “be part of the Swedish national team.” He was already training with the squad, but he was supposed to go travel with the U-21s instead. However, “he was told today that he will be involved with the senior NT against Denmark and Serbia.”
This is a big jump for the former Hammarby Fotboll player, who has take big leaps in his development in his 2 and a half years in Munich. With his contract at Bayern expiring next month, Vinlöf might be able to leverage the increased attention this call up will get him into a big move to another club and take another step in his development.
