BFW Postseason Breakdown: Bayern Munich’s Best Attacking Player
Bayern Munich had several attackers have solid seasons, but clearly one stood out above the rest. Let’s take a look at what the BFW staff thought…then you can give us your vote in the poll!
Chuck: C’mon…with 44 goals and 12 assists in 45 games across all competitions, this is not even close. The only negative thing you can say about Kane’s season is that it was annoying when he morphed into a No. 6 and forgot why Bayern Munich acquired him in the first place. Aside of that, Kane was awesome. Selection: Harry Kane.
zippy: For ten glorious seconds against Real Madrid, Flyin’ Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt showed the Bavarians what having a real striker up top looks like. Okay, but seriously. It’s Harry Kane.
Frank: Mathys Tel deserves a very, very honorable mention for continuing his progress, becoming the world’s best super sub for a period of time and banging in some wonderful goals. Jamal Musiala, too, deserves a special mention for some truly special moments this season that simply should not be possible for someone not called Lionel Messi. But even I cannot say that anybody but Harry Kane is the right choice. Selection: Harry Kane.
LoneStar249: Harry Kane averaged a goal per 28 touches this season. Even if you don’t like stats, that’s a tough one to argue with. The bigger issue is that Jamal Musiala’s dribbling magic wasn’t consistent enough to even challenge Kane for the award. Selection: Harry Kane.
RIPLT: If you notched 56 G+A in 45 games, then you’re obviously the best attacker in the team. Apart from playing basically every other position on the pitch (to varying degrees of success), there’s zero doubt on who the best attacker is. Selection: Harry Kane.
Dasher: There is no point trying to suggest a name other than Harry Kane. The otherworldly stats and brilliance all over the pitch, and pinpoint conversion rate from the spot in big games — Kane was the one player consistently performing for a Bayern attack that looked lackluster through long stretches of the season. Selection: (surprise surprise!) Harry Kane.
