Real Madrid? Chelsea FC? Liverpool FC? Manchester City?
Bayern Munich star left-back Alphonso Davies has been linked to each of those clubs as his future with the club appears extremely uncertain.
However, new manager Vincent Kompany is pushing the Bavarians to extend the Canadian’s deal per Sky Sport journalists Florian Plettenberg and Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Right after being appointed as new coach, Vincent Kompany immediately expressed his desire to keep Alphonso Davies. That’s why new talks have been ongoing between the club and the player’s management for a few days. From Bayern’s perspective, the talks are going well.
Davies and his management are now actually more positive about a contract extension than they were a few weeks ago — both sides are coming closer on the salary expectations. Kompany is confident that he can get Davies back on track after a poor season. The coach even believes he can take the Canadian to the next level. Real Madrid’s interest still exists, but there’s no offer so far. In case of a sale, Bayern would ask for over €50m – which Real are currently unwilling to pay.
Sport Bild journalist Tobi Altschäffl also had a similar report (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
@SPORTBILD also reports that Bayern have recently resumed talks with Alphonso Davies’ management. Vincent Kompany is convinced he can get Davies out of his recent poor form and back on track — that’s why an extension is still possible. Nevertheless, there’s still no quick agreement in sight, which is affecting Bayern’s plans for the left-back position as they can’t hold concrete talks with alternatives.
Just a few weeks ago, it seemed unthinkable for Davies to stay with Bayern Munich, but a poor season followed by Real Madrid’s mega-signing of Kylian Mbappé might have thrown some cold water on that particular move.
Will Bayern Munich and Davies agree on a new deal?
