Things could be heating up between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen center-back Jonathan Tah per Fabrizio Romano in his work for CaughtOffside (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Bayern are ‘pushing a lot’ for Jonathan Tah on player side. There’s interest from the Premier League, but Bayern remain the favourites in case Tah decided to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Tz journalists Philipp Kessler and Mano Bonke (via @iMiaSanMia) are reporting that Tah wants to make the move to Bayern Munich, but that someone from the club’s existing group of center-backs will have to leave to make it happen. That could prove difficult as most — if not all — of the team’s central defenders are content in Bavaria:
Jonathan Tah would like to join Bayern. In return, one of the current centre-backs in the squad would have to make way. Juventus appreciate Kim Min-jae, but the Korean wants to stay in Munich. Matthijs de Ligt also sees his future at Bayern. Vincent Kompany sees Dayot Upamecano as particularly well suited to the way he wants to play football. Ralf Rangnick has also had a similar conclusion about Upamecano during the talks with Bayern. The Frenchman, however, is considering the idea of a move to the Premier League.
For his part, Tah sure seems like he is ready to make a move.
“I’m thinking about the right next step for me, whether to stay in Leverkusen or go elsewhere. I don’t think it’s good to name names, but of course the next step should be the right one,” said Tah (as captured by Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg via @iMiaSanMia). “I’ve read a lot about (Bayern Munich’s interest). I’m happy to be linked to such a club. In the end, we’ll see.”
Tah, though, could also be looking at a future in England. Chelsea FC is reportedly interested in the Germany international per Sport Bild’s Christian Falk in his work for CaughtOffside (via @iMiaSanMia).
“The Premier League has always been something that interests me. But it doesn’t rule out that I also find the Bundesliga beautiful and am proud that I have played here for 10 years. I really appreciate the Bundesliga, but I also find the Premier League interesting,” Tah noted.
