Former Bayern Munich boss and current German national team manager Julian Nagelsmann was not too thrilled with what he saw from his squad in the first half against Greece.
During his time with the team at halftime, Nagelsmann let his boys know that their play was not up to the expected standard.
“The second half was much improved compared to the first. For the first time in a long time, we lost the ball easily in the first half, played far too slowly and played far too much through the center. I addressed that clearly at halftime. We simply needed more sharpness in all our actions to win this game. In the second half, we brought both wings into play in order to open up space in the middle,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by the DFB via @iMiaSanMia).
The tune-ups are now over and the real games will soon begin. Having lapses in the group stage could prove to be tough to recover from. No doubt, Nagelsmann will be looking ensure that his team is sharp from start to finish, instead of waiting until halftime to wake up moving forward.
