A 0-0 draw with Ukraine and a slim 2-1 victory over Greece were not exactly the type of results that the German national team wanted ahead of the EURO 2024 competition.
Clearly, former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann would have liked to have seen better performances on the pitch. While the product on the field was not exactly stirring, Germany will get some time off to reflect on things — and to enjoy some final time with their families before the craziness of the EURO 2024 tournament starts next Friday (via @iMiaSanMia):
Nagelsmann says the players will now have two days off to spend with their families before coming back to the team’s base camp in Herzogenaurach on Monday to start preparing for Friday’s EURO 2024 opener against Scotland.
The pressure will be on the Germans as they prepare to defend their home soil. Despite the less-than-stellar results in the two friendlies, Germany is still among the favorites in the competition alongside France, England, and Spain.
It will not be easy, but maybe this last bit of rest and relaxation is just what the Germans need to get fully back on track.
