Bayern Munich has seen plenty of first team additions join from RB Leipzig in the past, from Dayot Upamecano to Julian Nagelsmann to Konrad Laimer. However, Bayern usually cannot perform the same trick when it comes to the Dosenklub’s academy, with Leipzig usually the ones pinching Bayern youngsters away (see: Robert Ramsak this summer). However, this might be changing.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern is interested in 19-year-old attacking midfielder Chilohem Onuoha. The Berlin-born Bavarian target is out of contract in the summer, able to leave RB’s factory academy on a free transfer. Considering Onuoha has featured in Germany’s youth teams, most recently for the U-19s, it makes sense that Bayern is after a young talented German born player.
However, Bayern is not the only club after Onuoha. Plettenberg mentions that Burnley, Europa League champions Atalanta Bergamo, “Brighton, Ajax, Lecce and more teams” are after the former Hertha BSC talent. If Bayern wants to save another player from Leipzig, the club will need to move fast to ensure he ends up in Munich.
