According to a report from kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayer Leverkusen will not be bullied into a sale of Jonathan Tah just because Bayern Munich knows his contract expires in 2025:
Although Bayern and Jonathan Tah have reached an agreement, the transfer is by no means certain. An agreement between the clubs is likely to be a sticking point that should not be underestimated. Leverkusen would only accept an offer that comes close to €40m including realistic add-ons. Bayern are only willing to pay around €20m. Bayer Leverkusen will not sell Tah for a low fee just because his contract expires next summer. On the one hand, Tah is far too valuable for that in sporting terms. On the other hand, Leverkusen are not under any economic pressure after last season’s success.
Sport Bild journalist Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia) backed up kicker’s report, but also stated that Bayern Munich is “determined” to get the Germany international:
Bayern have opened official talks with Bayer Leverkusen for Jonathan Tah. Max Eberl contacted Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes. Bayern are determined to sign Tah and are willing to make an initial offer that matches Tah’s release clause from last year (which has now expired), worth around €18m. Leverkusen, meanwhile, want close to €40m. The maximum Bayern would be willing to go to is €25m plus add-ons.
Bild confirms that Bayern and Jonathan Tah have reached a verbal agreement over a summer move. The player has no intention of extending his contract beyond 2025 and has informed Leverkusen of his desire to move to Munich. Bayern would be willing to pay around €20m. Leverkusen currently want double that, which Bayern won’t pay.
Will Bayer Leverkusen show resolve and make Bayern Munich buck up?
