According to a report from Sport Bild’s Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is aiming to reduce its wage bill by as much as 25% for the 2025/26 season:
Bayern’s supervisory board has decided – and informed Max Eberl – that the wage bill should be reduced by up to 20% by 2025. In addition, new signings should mainly be funded through player sales.
According to Capaology.com, Bayern Munich will lose the following salaries in 2025:
- Manuel Neuer: €21 million
- Thomas Müller: €20 million
- Leroy Sané: €20 million (expected to re-up at a lower rate)
- Joshua Kimmich: €19.5 million
With Neuer and Müller expected to retire, a huge chunk will automatically come off the books. Kimmich has been a prime candidate for a transfer and Sané might extend his contract with a lower salary.
Even with that massive amount being taken off the budget, the Bavarians could also lop off even more with some players, who have deals that expire in 2026 or later. Some of the players who have been rumored to be on Bayern Munich’s chopping block include:
- Serge Gnabry: €18.9 million
- Leon Goretzka: €18.0 million
- Kingsley Coman: €18.0 million
- Matthijs de Ligt: €16.0 million
- Noussair Mazraoui: €8.0 million
If the Bavarians really want to get creative, they could also seek to sell off these players, who have also been mentioned in the transfer rumor mill:
- Kim Min-jae: €12.0 million
- Alphonso Davies: €11.5 million
- Dayot Upamecano: €10.0 million
