Former Bayern Munich and German national team assistant coach Miroslav Klose reached an agreement to become the head coach at 1. FC Nürnberg.
The move was announced on 1. FC Nürnberg’s website:
Miroslav Klose signed a contract as the new head coach of 1. FC Nürnberg on Tuesday morning.
1. FC Nürnberg is starting the new season with a new line-up. After Joti Chatzialexiou was recently appointed as new board member with overall sporting responsibility at Valznerweiher, it has now also been decided who will be in charge of the professional team’s sporting fortunes in the future: Miroslav Klose will be the club’s new head coach.
Der Club released the following statements after the hiring:
Sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou: “Miro is an extremely meticulous and detail-obsessed coach who has not only experienced and learned a lot during his successful playing career, but has also developed a clear idea as a coach of how to be successful in football and what it takes to achieve this on the pitch and in the dressing room.”
Miroslav Klose: “Tradition, passion, honest work, great fans – these are all things that I love about football and that I associate with 1. FC Nuremberg. That’s why the opportunity to become a coach here grabbed me immediately. The club has a great foundation with its youth work, which we want to build on. I have known and valued Joti for many years. We are on the same wavelength as people and in the way we think about football. Now it’s time to get going, get to work and get the season on the right track.”
