According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl, Bayern Munich is moving on from its pursuit of AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez in favor of continuing to work on a contract extension with Alphonso Davies:
Following talks with his agent, Theo Hernández is currently no longer a topic for Bayern. A reason for that is the renewed contract talks with Alphonso Davies. Vincent Kompany insisted during the squad planning talks that he was planning with the Canadian and promised the club’s bosses that he will get him back to his world class form of 2020. Kompany has already called Davies and spoken to him.
After a first meeting between Max Eberl and Alphonso Davies’ agent Nick Huoseh in Munich, everything seemed pointing towards a quick agreement – but Huoseh then left Munich on Thursday without having reached an agreement. According to @SPORTBILD, the player’s demands were still high (€16m per year plus a high signing fee). Eberl told Huoseh that the club will not approve of that. If Davies and his agent don’t lower their demands, the deal will fall through.
For all of the buzz that was initially generated regarding a potential transfer to Bayern Munich for Hernandez, things have cooled because of the aforementioned renewed talks between the Bavarians and Davies (@Gazzetta_it via @SempreMilanCom via @iMiaSanMia):
A preliminary agreement between Bayern and Theo Hernández already exists, but the Bavarians have not made any progress with Milan. With Alphonso Davies’ future still uncertain, Theo is waiting. The clubs will talk about it later with a lot depending on how the Bayern-Davies renewal talks go, but in the meantime Milan are not speaking to Theo about his renewal
If Davies re-ups with the Bavarians and things ultimately fall through between Bayern Munich and Hernandez, the Frenchman might consider going back to Real Madrid per Sport (via 90Min.com):
AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez would like to rejoin Real Madrid if Los Blancos fail to sign Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich.
As for Madrid and Davies, well, do not expect Los Blancos to pay anything significant for him per The Athletic (as captured by @iMiaSanMia);
Real Madrid are approaching any possible deal for Davies from the premise that they will not invest a large amount of money for a player whose contract expires in 2025 and whose club will likely be forced to sell him for a reasonable fee this summer if he does not renew. That is why they have asked the full-back on several occasions not to extend his contract and to ignore possible higher offers — as happened before they signed Tchouameni, Bellingham and, more recently, Mbappé.
FC Barcelona wants to bring back João Félix on a loan, but might be having some trouble convincing Atlético Madrid to make it happen again:
Barcelona are struggling to convince Atlético Madrid to sanction another loan for Joao Felix, with his parent club demanding a €50m transfer fee instead.
Germany will kick off its EURO 2024 campaign against Scotland with a team lacking on the typical Bayern Munich influence.
In fact, only Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, and Jamal Musiala could feature as starters for ex-Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann. As the home country, Germany will have the crowd at its back (and maybe on its back, too), but things will not be easy, as France, England, Spain, and Portugal are all expected to make a strong charge at winning the title.
Now, it is time to get going to and discuss how this all might play out, so let’s get to it:
- A look at Julian Nagelsmann’s probable starting XI.
- Why Germany absolutely needs a strong performance against Scotland to help, well, everyone stop feeling so apprehensive about the team.
- A prediction on the match.
According to a report from Dom Smith of The Standard (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich and Fulham FC could be pretty large:
Fulham value João Palhinha at £60million (€71m) and have rejected Bayern Munich’s initial £30m bid for his services. Fulham believe the player’s value has not changed from last summer when they accepted a £58m bid from Bayern. Bayern expect to pay between €40m and €45m this time around, but Fulham are holding out for closer to £60m (€71m).
Journalist Ben Jacobs (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) backed up the report above:
Bayern are preparing a new bid close to €45m for João Palhinha. Fulham want €70m. Palhinha is waiting for the clubs to agree a fee, having already agreed personal terms with Bayern.
With a salary rumored to be in the €9 million to €10 million range, would Bayern Munich be willing to pay a little more in a transfer fee to secure Palhinha?
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško continued his rise to stardom with a strong second half of the season and quickly became one of the more sought after talent in Europe. The Slovenian will not be leaving Die Roten Bullen just yet, though:
EXCLUSIVE: Benjamin Šeško has decided to STAY at RB Leipzig and sign new contract on improved terms!
Decision made for talented striker, similar to what Haaland decided back in the days at BVB.

90Min.com reported that Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, and Manchester United were all interested in Šeško:
Benjamin Šeško has decided to stay at RB Leipzig this summer despite widespread transfer interest in his services, a new report has revealed.
The 21-year-old was one of Europe’s most sought after strikers for the summer window following a rapid rise to stardom.
90min previously reported that Sesko was a target for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, but they now look set to miss out on a deal for the Slovenia international.
At one point, Bayern Munich was keeping an eye on Šeško. Maybe by the time Harry Kane is ready to move on, the Bavarians will take another look at the 21-year-old.
Bayern Munich’s offseason reload could be starting off in a big way as the club is planning on making a big splash immediately. In addition to that, there was a bizarre story put out by Sky Sport last week, which detailed six top players who could be sold this summer by the Bavarians.
Oh, and then there is the German national team and how things look after two friendlies. Yup, there is a lot to chat about, so let’s get to it. Here is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
- A look at Bayern Munich’s rumored €40 million splurge on João Palhinha and what that might mean for the other midfielders on the roster.
- Delving into the six players who Sky listed as for sale this summer.
- Assessing where the German national team stands after underwhelming performances against Ukraine and Greece.
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany could still be keeping one eye on England as he could still have some interest in Arsenal FC’s Oleksandr Zinchenko and Albert Sambi Lokonga:
Newly appointed Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is reportedly eyeing a double swoop for Arsenal‘s Oleksandr Zinchenko and Albert Sambi Lokonga, according to reports from the Daily Mirror and Football Transfers.
Kompany, who recently left Burnley after an unsuccessful relegation battle, is familiar with both players from his time in the Premier League. He was at City with Zinchenko for two years and previously managed Lokonga at Anderlecht.
Zinchenko, a versatile left-back known for his technical ability and tactical intelligence, could provide a valuable option for Bayern, who may be losing Alphonso Davies to Real Madrid. Lokonga, a promising young midfielder, has been compared to Yaya Toure by Kompany himself.
However, Arsenal‘s stance on the potential transfers remains unclear. While Zinchenko has struggled with injuries and competition for his position, he remains a highly regarded player. Lokonga, meanwhile, has shown flashes of brilliance but has yet to fully establish himself in the Gunners’ starting lineup.
It seems unlikely that Zinchenko and Lokonga are serious (or even viable) candidates for Bayern Munich at this point.
Manchester United and Liverpool FC are both keeping a close eye on Teun Koopmeiners, who is injured and will miss the EUROs for the Netherlands:
Manchester United and Liverpool are both interested in signing Netherlands midfielder Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta this summer, with both set to submit bids worth up to £60m.
There is a lot of moving and shaking going on at Bayern Munich and the German national team these days, which means there is a lot to talk about. This is what we have on tap for the latest edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Vincent Kompany wants to play a 4-4-2 (hmmm), sell some wingers (yeah!), and has six players targeted for five positions (Paris Saint-Germain’s Xavi Simons, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, VfB Stuttgart’s Chris Führich, VfB Stuttgart, Fulham’s João Palhinha, and Everton’s Amadou Onana). What does all of this mean? Let’s discuss.
