When Bayern Munich was linked to VfB Stuttgart center-back Hiroko Ito on Wednesday, the news shocked the media and fans alike.
No one (well almost no one) saw this coming.
Now, the Bavarians could be very close to having Ito join Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, and Eric Dier as the squad’s fifth center-back. With other rumors pointing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah to Bavaria, Vincent Kompany’s team could have six — six! — legitimate center-back options, without even including Josip Stanišić, who has done some spot duty at the position.
Ito is a very solid, left-footed defender able to play both center-back and left-back. The 25-year-old’s versatility would be a welcomed addition to the Bavarian backline, but his arrival would likely come at a cost to either De Ligt or Upamecano (though Dier and Min-jae could also be candidates for a sale…no one appears to be safe under Max Eberl (well, almost no one).
So tell us…how do you judge Ito? Will the acquisition fit like a glove? Or, should Bayern Munich cut and run?

I’m no sure this represents an improvement over what Bayern already has.
