Every week, it seems Bayern Munich is getting more and more serious about a potential squad rebuild. The report that Bayern Munich was willing to listen to offers for six key players such as Joshua Kimmich and Matthijs de Ligt caused shockwaves throughout the fandom, but if one is willing to believe Bild reporters Tobi Altschäffl and Christian Falk, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, Bayern may just be stepping up efforts to get certain players out of the club. Their report reads like this:
The problem is that Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry, who are candidates for sale, have told the club’s bosses that they’re currently not ready to leave Bayern. All three players are referring to their ongoing contracts. However, by the start of pre-season at the latest, Bayern bosses and Vincent Kompany want to hold talks with all players who are allowed to leave – and make it clear to them that they will have a tough time if they stay.
Although no player will be sent to the stands – but they shouldn’t complain when they don’t get game time. With a combined market value of €120m, it would be a big setback for the club’s transfer plans this summer if they failed to sell the trio
It is very difficult to see how Bayern could possibly afford to force star players of the caliber and significance of those three players to remain on the bench. Kimmich and Goretzka, in particular, have proven nearly impossible to leave out of the first XI. If Bayern truly wish to go down this route, and it remains a big if, it could be a long and difficult fight for the Bavarian giants.
