Germany’s chances at the EURO 2024 competition might hinge on the performance of several Bayern Munich players — including attacker Jamal Musiala.
With big tournament experience under his belt via the EURO 2021 and World Cup 2022 tournaments, Musiala wants to keep the same mentality he took into those competitions.
“I went into the tournaments free, not worrying too much or thinking about the pressure. That allowed me to play as well as I could in those moments. I will definitely keep that up – and at the same time I want to help my teammates to feel free on the pitch as well,” Musiala told Sports Illustrated (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Musiala, a noted basketball fan, said he can draw inspiration for the EUROs from the German national basketball team’s World Cup championship.
“[Germany’s basketball World Cup win] is definitely an inspiration. Nobody expected Germany to become world champions. The team does not have any loud players who overestimate themselves. They simply did their job, game after game – and suddenly they were in the final. We should take that as an example,” said Musiala.
