Former Bayern Munich prospect turned Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos is not playing in the EURO 2024 competition to get a participation medal.
Kroos expects to win, but knows not everyone views Germany as a tournament favorite.
“It would be wrong not to go [to the EUROs] with the goal of winning the tournament. In the end we’ll see how realistic that is. I think we managed to change the mood a bit in a positive direction. However, in my opinion we’re still a long way from being favourites. For me of course when I play a tournament, I want to win it. I think we definitely have a good team,” Kroos told Sky Sport journalist Patrick Berger (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kroos will play a vital role in Germany’s chances to win on their home soil. Without the skilled, experienced midfielder, the German national team might be a bit further down the list of EURO 2024 favorites.
