Former Bayern Munich boss and current German national team manager Julian Nagelsmann was thrilled with his team’s 5-1 shellacking of Scotland and thinks the win could have put the very apprehensive German fan base back behind its team.
“We’ve taken our first step and we’ll look to build on that. We’ll do what we can to win in Stuttgart. I’ll let the players rest (on Saturday) then on Sunday we’ll start our preparations [for Hungary]. The team gives me a lot of energy – it’s a lot of fun with that group of players. The team did very well and I’m very happy about it. The fans perhaps believe in us a little bit more now than they did before the game,” said Nagelsmann (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Fans of the German national team had every right to be wary of the footballers, who have more often fizzled rather than sizzled in recent years. With a convincing win over Scotland, things are looking good — and could potentially be getting back on track for Germany.
