It is true that Scotland did not put up a lot of resistance against Germany as they were crushed 5-1 in the inaugural match of the 2024 European Championship. It is also true that Bayern Munich and Germany star Jamal Musiala did not give them much of a chance as he stole the show with an utterly mesmerizing and spellbinding display of nimble athleticism and jaw dropping skill. But, in Munich, there may be some that would have wished Musiala did not garner such attention. After all, he has a contract the club wants to renew.
Reports that Bayern have been trying to renew Musiala’s contract date back to 2022, but as of now, Musiala’s contract with Bayern remains the same. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, things might finally be moving along. Romano reports that “Bayern have prepared everything since March/April to extend Jamal Musiala’s contract. The club will make a ‘really special’ proposal to Musiala in terms of salary. Talks with the player’s agent will resume after the Euros.
Ah yes, the “special proposal” that sounds super important but is vague enough to mean absolutely nothing. It is difficult to determine just how “special” this proposal to Musiala is, but it seems that Bayern have been concretely working on renewing the former Chelsea FC youngster for months and that can only be good. Yet the club may still be feeling heat.
“Bayern want to seal the extension in the coming months to avoid any problems in summer 2025, when Musiala would have only one year left on his contract. The interest in Musiala is big, especially from England – many clubs are monitoring the situation and waiting to see what happens. Manchester City are big fans of the player.”
Losing Musiala is a nightmare scenario that the club genuinely cannot afford to happen. Bayern need to get this right.
