Man United have signed talented right-back James Overy, who comes in full of promise.
Manchester United now know that Erik ten Hag will remain in charge for the new season, hence, planning will now be well underway.
The Old Trafford club, now under INEOS’ ownership and guidance, will be looking to make some signings that help push the Red Devils up the Premier League table.
Well, signings are now starting to be made. According to the Manchester Evening News, United have officially completed the signing of right-back, James Overy.
The Red Devils had to beat out Premier League competition from West Ham and Leicester City to acquire the former A-League player.
Overy relocated to England last year, though United have been hot on his tail since an impressive game for the Perth Glory in pre-season as a fifteen-year-old.
A few weeks ago, United were in a strong place to complete the deal to sign the young man. It has now been officially completed.
Overy will sign on an initial scholarship deal, as he cannot sign pro terms until he turns seventeen. You’d imagine the right-back will go straight into the U18 squad this summer, looking to prove his worth and push towards the first-team over the next few seasons.
I always like hearing about these acquisitions. United tend to fare better when they opt for younger players who they develop and mould, rather than signing these ready-made stars who often wilt and struggle under the immense pressure they’re under.
Overy may turn into a world-beater. He may not. We will certainly find out in the coming years.
Welcome to the club, James!
